This petite floral charm combines a sturdy crocheted hanging loop, a joined double-leaf accent, and two bobble-textured lily-of-the-valley bells. It is a quick, giftable project that uses only small amounts of cotton yarn.
About this pattern
The lily-of-the-valley keychain is worked in three small sections: a green chain cord, a two-leaf motif, and two bell-shaped flowers. The cord is folded to make a hanging loop; its two free ends become the flower stems. Each flower starts with a compact green cup, then adds six white bobble petals and a softly scalloped edge.
US crochet terminology is used throughout. The finished charm is decorative; keep it away from babies and pets because the small flowers and loop are not toys.
Materials
- Smooth cotton yarn, sport or DK weight: about 12 yd (11 m) olive green and 8 yd (7 m) white
- 2.75 mm (C-2) crochet hook, or a size that makes firm stitches
- Tapestry needle, embroidery needle, and sharp scissors
- Optional small key ring or lobster clasp
Finished size and gauge
The sample measures approximately 4.5 in (11.5 cm) from the top of the loop to the bottom of the flowers and about 2.5 in (6.5 cm) across the leaves. Gauge is not critical; tight, even stitches create a durable charm.
Abbreviations
- ch — chain
- sc — single crochet
- hdc — half double crochet
- dc — double crochet
- sl st — slip stitch
- st(s) — stitch(es)
- inc — 2 sc in the same stitch
- bobble — 5 dc worked partially, then closed together
Pattern notes
- The chain-1 turning chain does not count as a stitch unless noted.
- Flower cups are worked in joined rounds; join with a slip stitch to the first sc.
- Keep the green cord and leaf fabric firm so the charm holds its shape.
- A bobble uses five incomplete double crochets in one stitch: yarn over, insert hook, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through two loops; repeat four more times, then yarn over and pull through all six loops on the hook.
Instructions
Hanging cord and loop
With olive green yarn, ch 55 (or any odd number for a different length).
- Row 1: Sc in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across — 54 sc.
- Fasten off, leaving tails at both ends. Fold the strip in half so the two ends meet and the fold forms a centered loop. Stitch the two free ends together for about ½ in (1.25 cm), leaving the long tails for assembly.
The folded cord now has one hanging loop at the top and two equal stem ends at the bottom. Do not trim the tails yet.
Double-leaf motif
Make two matching leaves in olive green, then join their narrow ends around the center of the folded cord.
For each leaf, ch 8.
- Row 1: Starting in the second chain from the hook, work sl st, sc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, sc along the chain — 7 stitches.
- Row 2: Turn. Ch 1, then work sc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, sc, sl st across — 7 stitches.
- Fasten off, leaving a 6 in (15 cm) sewing tail.
Place the leaves end-to-end with their pointed tips facing outward. Using one tail, whipstitch the inner ends together around the folded cord at its center. Take a few extra stitches through the cord so the leaf pair cannot slide.

Green flower cups
Make two cups in olive green.
- Round 1: Make a magic ring, ch 1, work 6 sc into the ring — 6 sts. Join.
- Round 2: Ch 1, inc in each stitch around — 12 sts. Join.
- Round 3: Ch 1, sc in each stitch around — 12 sts. Join and fasten off, leaving a 6 in (15 cm) tail.
The flat side is the bottom of the cup and the slightly raised edge is the flower top. Set the cups aside while you make the petals.
White bell petals
Join white yarn to any stitch of a green cup.
- Round 4: Make one bobble in the next stitch, ch 1, skip the next stitch; repeat from * around — 6 bobbles and 6 ch-1 spaces. Join with a slip stitch to the first bobble.
- Round 5 (scalloped edge): In each ch-1 space work sc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, sc. Slip stitch between petals as needed to reach the next space. Join, fasten off, and weave the end inside the cup.
Repeat Rounds 4–5 for the second cup. Gently roll the scallops outward with your fingers to give each flower a bell shape.
Assembly and finishing
- Thread one stem end of the folded cord through the center of a green flower cup from the top. Use the stem tail to stitch through the cup base and around the cord for a secure join. Repeat with the second stem and flower.
- Position the two flowers so they hang at slightly different heights. Wrap each stem tail around the cord once, then weave it through the cup and trim the excess.
- Sew the leaf pair firmly at the center of the loop. Add a key ring or lobster clasp through the top of the folded loop if desired.
- Weave in every remaining end. Shape the leaves and petals with your fingers; a light mist of water can help the cotton settle, but let the charm dry completely before attaching it to a bag.
Helpful tips
- Count 54 sc after the cord row; an odd starting chain gives a centered fold after the row is worked.
- Keep the six bobbles evenly spaced. If the petals cup too tightly, loosen the closing loop of each bobble slightly.
- For a fuller flower, use a slightly heavier yarn for the petals while keeping the same six-space round.
- Check the center leaf join before trimming tails—the join carries the weight of both flowers.

Helpful questions
Can I make the keychain shorter?
Yes. Use a shorter starting chain for the hanging cord, keeping an odd number so the fold lands at the center. The flowers and leaves are unchanged.
How do I keep the flowers from twisting?
Add the joining stitches through the green flower cup and the top two stitches of each stem. A small sewing needle makes it easy to anchor the flowers in the same direction.
What yarn works best?
Smooth cotton in sport or DK weight gives the leaves crisp edges and keeps the bobbles defined. Adjust the hook size so the fabric is firm but not stiff.
